Buying ink cartridges shouldn’t leave you broke!

Every time I walk through one of our local “big box” stores I amazed at the price for printers. When I purchased our first multi-function printer several years ago the price tag was several times over what today’s price is. You could quite literally buy half a dozen of these machines for the cost of our old one. There is however a sort of hidden cost, that many consumers overlook, when purchasing a new printer given the eye catching low prices printers are now being sold for. This hidden cost typically becomes apparent when the free ink cartridge that the printer comes with needs replacing.

I felt the grip of this hidden fee the first time I bought a toner cartridge for my recently acquired, high tech and yet affordable, printer. The price for two name brand ink cartridges was actually more than the price I paid for the entire unit! People are complaining left and right today about the cost of gasoline but price gouging is occurring in places they don’t even think to look. I seriously doubt that these cheap printers would seem nearly as attractive if people realized that the cost of popular brand ink cartridges was as much as $22 per quarter once of ink. Yet, so many people continue to pay these outrageous prices because they believe that these ink cartridges are their only option. I would have a nice little nest if I could take back the purchase of every over priced ink cartridge I have ever made.

Consumers need educated that ink cartridges from great suppliers such as the Inkshop are every bit as good as those overpriced name brand ink cartridges but cost 75% less! If you spend anytime researching this market you will soon realize that companies like Lexmark, Cannon, Epson, and HP are working diligently to keep this little secret under wraps and prevent these lower cost alternatives from entering the market. This should come as no surprise when you consider that as much as 80% of the profits for some of these companies is derived not from equipment sales but rather from supply sales.

Why continue to give control of your wallet over to these big manufacturers when the only difference between ink cartridges purchased from the Inkshop is the name on the label?
