First thing this morning I make a phone call just like I normally would without and thought nothing of it. A few minutes late I log onto FatWallet to look for a coupon code for a purchase I planned on making and by chance noticed a thread stating SunRocket is now defunct. Did I get an email, letter, or any type of notification? It seems neither did any of SunRocket’s 200,000 other customers. How can a company in the business of providing phone service go out of business without telling anyone? It seems that VoiP is not regulated under the FCC and therefore they can do this. The thing that makes it even worse is right up until the lights went out they allowed people to sign up and pay for service. This means tons of people are out as much as $200.00 after having paid for a year of service in advance. Absolutely unbelievable! Until this point I was absolutely pleased with my service and had urged tons of people to give VoiP a try. Now I sit with no phone service looking like a fool.
