Do children have RAM?

As we age it seems that most of us experience some decline in our memory capabilities. Children I am convinced come wired very much like computers. My son clearly has RAM that rivals my new laptop. At the age of 3 he asked for a dog. In a moment of haste we told him that he was too young for a dog. He then asked how old he needed to be to have a dog. At the time 10 years of age seemed a reasonable response. Well, yesterday we were in Walmart picking up fish supplies and he glanced at the animal jewelry, jackets, and collars and asked if we could buy something for “the dog he is getting when he is ten”. Five years and the child still remembers.
