Think again about electronic banking
Posted by The Inspector on December 27th, 2007 filed in businessThis week has left me with a migraine headache that no amount of pills could resolve. We found out the hard way that web banking is not all it is cracked up to be. For three months our bank has been sending checks out into the wild blue yonder that were supposed to be going to the credit union to pay our car loan. It seems that the credit union has never received a check and waited until last night to announce this fact with a tow truck in our drive. Considering the money for these payments has steadily been withdrawn from our account you can imagine my surprise at an impending repossession of my vehicle. A quick call to our bank confirmed the payment were being mailed and money was indeed withdrawn as our records indicated. Bright and early this morning we met the credit union people at the door and found out shortly thereafter they had never received a check from our bank. After showing them our bank statements a conference call with our bank was quickly made and the source of the problem determined to be that the checks were being mailed to the wrong address. One short hour and a great deal of “discussion” later we left with our car and an apology. I will now be driving and hand delivering checks to the credit union in the future!
