I am not a pack mule.

in: family

The world of technology has been put on hold in my life for the time being. Right now our lives are completely focused on getting our house emptied out and ready to be put on the market. This has meant parting with tons of things we have been hanging on to for many years. The majority of what has already gone to charity are things like baby clothes, maternity jeans, and maternity shirts. What kills me is that when you get to the drop off center no one even offers to hold open the door for you. The other day I took 17 bags of very nice things to our local drop off center. While there 3 employees watched me struggle with holding the door open and lugging these super sized bags inside. Did they even think to offer to open the door? Of course they did not or I wouldn’t be writing this post. What gets to me is that they don’t seem to see that is because of these donations they have a job. If you make it too much trouble for people to give things away they will just go with the next easiest option which would be another charity or simply throwing them in the trash. Manners just seem to be a hard thing to find more and more in world.
