Energy efficient light bulbs

Several months ago I replaced all the ceiling light bulbs and lamps in our house and outside it with energy efficient bulbs. This move was triggered by a really great sale on the bulbs at my local grocery store. The bulbs promised a fairly decent yearly savings that would offset the cost of the bulbs. Although it hasn’t been a year I do think the bulbs have saved us some money but not nearly what was promised on the packaging. Our local electric is pretty inexpensive and that may be contributing to my lack of excitement over the savings we are getting.
