My thoughts on web hosting…

A friend of mine is trying to start a website and wanted my input on hosting options. Thought this might interest someone else out there so I am forwarding my thoughts to this blog. I currently use Dreamhost and suggested that he go with a big hosting company they have a ton of free web apps that you can install right from your control panel. I know GoDaddy, Bluehost, and Globat all have phpbb, SMF, Joomla, WordPress, and others available right from a click of the button. Just make sure you get a plan with at least a few MySQL databases available because these apps are dynamic and run from a database. Also, make sure you get a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) system as apposed to a Windows solution.
