Wii remote delay
Posted by The Inspector on January 17th, 2009 filed in UncategorizedWe experienced a delay with our remote response and couldn’t figure out what was going on. We have since found a few causes of this problem.
There are three main problems you can have with Wii-motes.
First, check the batteries. Even if you used the ones that came with it, they’ve been sitting on a humid shelf for a while, and may be dead.
Next, make sure there isn’t a lot of background light in the room. For instance, if you have a window behind the sensor bar, you’ll need to either adjust the positioning or the sensitivity in the Wii menu. The reason for this is because most light sources also give off infrared, which is what the sensor bar emits so the Wii-mote can read it.
Finally, there have been some issues with the accelerometer in the Wii-mote itself. It becomes stuck or partially stuck. Nintendo’s suggestion is to give the controller a good, hard smack. However, I don’t recommend this unless you know for a fact it’s stuck. Usually you can tell by playing a game requiring you to make motions. If the game doesn’t do anything, it’s either stuck or broken.
