DVD scratches?

What do you use to get scratches off of your DVD’s? They actually sell DVD scratch removers. They remove the entire layer of the DVD until the scratches are gone. They can be more $$ than buying another DVD if you are talking just 1. My brother worked for a movie store that had one and says they are fabulous. We’ve use furniture polish which seemed to help. I also heard that baking soda toothpaste rubbed from center to outside can help take out the scratches. I also use windex to get the scratches off my netflix DVDs to get them working again. Can I tell you how much I hate DVDs?!? My kids are always playing with them and they get all sticky and scratched! I think they should start putting movies on something less easy to break.
