Dish television

I’m wondering if any of you have been with DirecTV for several years, like I have, and can’t get the deals that they give their new customers. I am really frustrated when I see the fliers with the great deals for new customers and yet here I’ve been a customer for 13 years now and can’t get any deals. Anyone have any ideas or have you done anything to get a good deal with DirecTV?
We tried that a few months ago and it did NOT work. All we wanted was to upgrade our DVR to an HD unit, which they are giving free to new customers. They went down a little from the first call and then added things like 3 mo HBO/SHOW on subsuquent calls, but nothing like new customers get. I dont understand why they would rather lose us as customers and get $0 money from us than give us the DVR and actually get more money from us because we would be paying extra for HD. Go figure. In the end we switched to DISH and figure if we dont like them we can go back in 2 yrs to DirecTV as NEW customers.
