Just giving it away.

We have been putting stuff into our garage over the last several months in hopes of having a garage sale. This weekend I was sorting through stuff and a couple of people stopped and wanted to buy different items. Our neighbor stopped and asked for something else I had sitting out. Finally I decided to just put the more worn stuff on the curb with a “free” sign on it. By the end of the night all of it was gone and the garage was clean. No, I didn’t make much money at all. In the end I can feel good about giving furniture to a woman getting a second start in life, a college student going out in the world for the first time, and a handicapped child in a wheelchair needing some new bedroom furniture. My mother is always saying I am foolish for giving stuff away but I don’t care. I have to believe that somehow this spirit is a little contagious and the people who receive this stuff will in turn share their “extra” stuff when they are able to do so.
