Not a fun night.

The other night I went to turn off one of our computers and received a message that the computer was infected. This threw me for a loop because I am very avid about keeping my virus software up to date. Many years ago I had a computer trashed by a particularly bad virus and lost everything in the computer memory. This is not something I hope to ever repeat. Instantly on seeing this message I began to search my computer and found out that somehow we had been infected with malware. I suspect this was due to the children playing on the computer and absently clicking on the wrong thing. It took several hours to get the computer fully functional again. I now have to work on setting up a single computer that the children are allowed to use and a system for keeping them away from the other ones in the house. This is easier said than done when you have a 3 year old who is more computer savvy than my parents. We may just have to build an locking box to store the keyboard and mouse in if he continues to turn on the computer and navigate his way to his favorite websites.
