Metal detecting finds.

This week I took my older son out for a session of metal detecting at a local park. The park is an older one that not many people visit. I was fairly certain that no one had been metal detecting in this area recently. There was a great deal of standing water that made it pretty nasty because of all the bugs and mosquitoes. After searching the entire park we netted about 75 cents. Not much for an hour of work but that wasn’t the point. What we did manage to do was spend some great time together talking about whatever came to mind. It is interesting see how my son’s mind works when there is nothing around to distract him. The child is absolutely amazing in what his brain is thinking about. I have to say even if all we ever find is quarters and dimes that is just fine with me because what I find when we go out “hunting” together is even more valuable. I find the kid that is sometimes hidden when there are cartoons and video games for him to focus on.
