TMJ…
Posted by The Inspector on May 15th, 2010 filed in UncategorizedFor about a month I have been having terrible pain in one side of my jaw and around my ear. I finally bucked under the pain and went to see the doctor. I have been a little concerned that since I hit my head really hard in the car accident, in February, that maybe I had somehow damaged my jaw. The pain was waking me up at night and I couldn’t chew comfortably. I even gave consideration to tracking down the best sleep aids just to see if I could get a bit of rest. The doctor looked me over and listened to what I had to say. He said he doubted the accident caused the pain and that it was likely more stress related. His diagnosis was that I have “TMJ” and he prescribed me steroids and muscle relaxers. Between the two the pain has lessened and I am at least able to eat comfortably. I am wondering what will happen when I don’t have muscle relaxers to rely on. My stress level is not any greater than it has ever been so I doubt that is actually a factor in what is going on. I suppose the passage of time is the only way to know what is really going to happen.
