Driver in training.
Posted by The Inspector on June 5th, 2010 filed in UncategorizedI really couldn’t tell who was more excited about getting the lawn mower running my older or myself. He was quite literally jumping up and down when he heard the engine take off. I think it is because he knew that he was going to be taught how to use it. The child is just growing up so fast! Before I know it he is going to be shaving and needing an acne treatment for his face. He couldn’t wait to get behind the wheel and take the mower for a spin around the yard. He is a bit of a distracted driver making it a bit worrisome to let him loose behind the wheel. I can only hope that I can teach him some skills that will transfer to the time when he get behind the wheel of an auto for the first time. Right now we are working on being aware of what is in front of you at all times. How many driver’s on the road today could use a refresher on that particular skill? I must spot at least a dozen a day who seem to be doing anything but paying attention to the road in front of them. My opinion is to start small with something like the lawn mower and implant some very clear driving rules now that will be cemented in his mind over time.
