Junk food weekend.
Posted by The Inspector on July 6th, 2010 filed in UncategorizedOur typical diet is pretty nutritionally sound. My wife tries to make most of our food from scratch and from wholesome local ingredients. There are times when eating the way we are accustomed to is just not as easy. For example, this weekend we were away from home and at our off-grid camping spot. Not having a refrigerator or an oven make it a bit difficult to keep food fresh. We tend to eat a bit more processed foods when we are camping than we would like. The result of this type of eating was pretty clear when I stepped on the scales this morning. I had gained about 5 pound in one weekend. There has to be some truth to the fact that processed foods and sugar are not good for your waistline because I can think of no other reason I would gain this much weight during a 3 day weekend. Given that we were pretty active you would think the weight gain would not be an issue. We really need to work on a better way to keep food fresh when camping. I would love not to feel like processed and prepared foods are the only options we have when camping without electricity.
