Driving to buy milk.
Posted by The Inspector on September 22nd, 2010 filed in UncategorizedWe drive 26 miles to buy our milk. I realize that this is not an environmentally friendly thing to do but we don’t have a choice. Milk in our state is regulated to be a certain price. That price is two full dollars higher per gallon that milk in the state next door. Considering that our family drinks between 3-5 gallons per week this is a costly price to pay. We have tried using powdered milk and one of our children has no problem drinking it but the other child won’t drink it at all. Buying powdered milk online allowed us to purchase milk for about the same price as making the drive but it isn’t good for your health. Apparently there are health risks that have been reported as a result of high ingestion of dried milk products. I don’t know if there really is truth to these claims but I have elected to just make the weekly trip to buy 5 gallons of milk when we can. We use the dry milk in between our milk runs.
