Maybe next year…

This summer is obviously over. Did I take a vacation? No, I did not but could definitely use one. We managed a couple of weekend camping trips but just couldn’t fit anything else in. It isn’t that I don’t have plenty of vacation time but rather that we just didn’t want to overextend ourselves financially this year. We have poured every dime that we get our hands on into paying off our debts. Not having any debt makes it really hard to ever want to be in that position again.

For now I am dreaming of how I will use my vacation time up next year. We should have cashed freed up by then that will allow us to take a nice trip without going into debt to do so. One place I would like to go is to one of those Outer Banks beach rentals. My very dear friends go to the Outer Banks each summer and say there is no place else they would rather go on vacation. I have looked over the various rental options and am particularly drawn to those offered by Carolina Designs. I can just imagine my family spending a relaxing vacation on the shore. The rental options and accommodations are endless!

My children love nature and wildlife which makes a home near the ocean ideal. Can you imagine how excited they would be to watch porpoises every day! Being home schooled makes each and every thing we do a learning adventure. I can just imagine the lessons my wife could develop around ocean life! Personally, I have had my fill of bear, deer, and raccoons and would greatly appreciate a change of scenery next summer. As much as I love camping, it just plain feels like work! Whenever we get back, from a camping trip, I feel like I need another vacation. Lounging around and taking in the beauty of the Outer Banks just sounds too good to be true right now. I can almost feel the warm breezes washing over me right now…
