Interesting perspective…
Posted by The Inspector on November 17th, 2010 filed in UncategorizedWe have taken to watching quite a number of documentaries lately. The other night we watched one that focused on human happiness. It raised a number of interesting facts about what does or does not make us happy. I was particularly interested in this gentleman who described how his life changed after he changed his profession. He said there was a time in his life when the only thing he was focused on was getting the best possible managerial roles in everything imaginable from business to accounting finance jobs. He equated his happiness and the happiness of his family with how much money he brought into the family. What he didn’t realize was that his pursuit to climb the career ladder was making him a miserable person to be around. He came home dead tired and completely drained each and every day. He had no patience for his family and only to be left alone each night. The things that he was providing his family meant nothing because he wasn’t actively enjoying them with him. He ultimately changed jobs and realized that his family could be happier with fewer things and that having more time together was where his happiness truly existed.
