Games…

Yesterday was my wife’s 40th birthday. The day passed exactly as she ask for it to. There was not a party nor a cake. In fact aside from my card there weren’t any cards. She did have lots of good wishes via emails and whatnot. I have to say that it irks me that her own parents never acknowledge her birthdays. I suppose after 20 years of being in their family I shouldn’t expect them to suddenly change but I wish they would. It hurts me to know that secretly it hurts her that they don’t really care about her. I hear her mother talk about calling her brother’s and sending them cookies and cakes on their birthdays. I feel pretty confident that the lack of acknowledgment of my wife’s birthdays is entirely intentional. I would love to say something but that isn’t mine to do. Instead I simply honor the request that is asked of me and let the day just pass by.
