Time to get to work.

Winter is officially here in our part of the world. We have woken up to snow fall for the last few days that does not fade by the middle of the day. I don’t really consider winter here until the snow falls and stays there for the day or a couple of days. My children are absolutely beside themselves planning all of the fun outdoor activities made possible by the introduction of snow. There will be all the obvious things like snowmen, sledding, and snowball fights. My youngest son is quite intent on building an igloo in order to pretend to be a penguin. Television has convinced him that penguins do indeed live in igloos. I have been unable to convince him otherwise and have given up trying. He is also quite convinced that the snow means that Christmas is coming. He was very dismayed when he woke to snow, last week, only to have it melt away during the day. He was inconsolable for a while because he was convinced that Christmas went away because the snow was gone. I suppose it is a good thing we don’t live in an area that doesn’t get any snow at all during the holidays.
