Tax time.
Posted by The Inspector on January 19th, 2011 filed in UncategorizedThis is the time of year when we all start looking at our taxes and preparing to file them. We generally file our federal taxes fairly early because we usually get a decent return. My mother prepared taxes for years for H&R Block and never understands why we like getting a return. In her mind we should have our deductions adjusted so that we owe nothing and expect nothing back. I understand that she believes the money we are getting back is money that we could be using throughout the year. Our standpoint is that this return is an unexpected bonus that we can use like a savings account of sorts. We learn throughout the year to live on less and make do. When tax season arrives and we get our return we have always used it to pay off bills. This is the first year that we don’t have any bills that it needs to be directed towards. We intend to put it into a true savings account and leave it for a rainy day.
