Office dress code.

The office where I work has a formal written dress code which all the employees are expected to follow. It is pretty straight forward when it comes to areas like men’s clothing. Essentially we are expected to wear dress shoes, slacks, and a button down shirt. The same cannot be said when it comes to addressing what women are allowed to wear. I have seen women in my office wearing everything and anything in an attempt to test the limits of the dress code. Just this week someone was sent home for wearing a very low cut shirt. One of our clients complained and she was asked to go home and change. There was a time when I thought dress codes were unnecessary in a professional office where people should be trusted to use appropriate judgment. I now realize that clear rules are a good thing. I am just glad, that as a man, my choices are so clear and there isn’t a great deal of room for interpreting the rules.
