The girls are ladies now.

We started raising backyard chickens in September. I have to be honest and say that at the beginning of this project I was not entirely on board. Needless to say I agreed to build a coop for our little chicks and hoped it wouldn’t turn into a big problem. As things have played out the girls have been fun for the entire family and really easy to keep. They aren’t messy and have become pretty docile. This weekend we realized that we can no longer call them “girls” because they are now ladies. We had the great thrill of finding eggs in our nest box at long last. I realize that 4.5 months isn’t that long to wait but it sure felt like it at times. Not all of the them are laying but I am happy that at least one of them is doing what they are supposed to do.
