Sticker shock.

We buy most of our baking supplies in bulk because this is the most economical way to do it. My wife bakes just about everything we eat from scratch and this requires a great deal of things like flour and oats. This afternoon we decided to trek out to the Amish bulk food store to make some purchases. The Amish store traditionally has much lower prices than our local grocery store. The last time we bought 50 pounds of flour it was $13.50. This time we were a bit surprised to find the price was $25.00 for the same size bag. This is an almost 50% rise in just about 6 months. The Amish lady who owns the store told us that she has never seen food prices jump so high so quickly. I can only hope things level out soon.
