Belated gifts…

My mother had a birthday last week. Typically we get together to celebrate her birthday. We were unable to do this because she had to travel out of town due to the death of someone in our family. I did send her a nice card complete with a pretty red envelope but that was it. I feel bad that we didn’t get to do more but it was unavoidable. The funeral kept her out of town for over a week. My mom lives alone and I am her only child which makes it important that I make her birthday special. This weekend we are going to surprise her with a visit and some gifts that we let the children pick out. Hopefully we can still make her birthday special even though we are a bit late in celebrating it. My wife is going to make her a cherry cheesecake which happens to be her favorite dessert. I intend to work on some projects around her house that need completed as my gift. The kids have made her some drawings in addition to the gifts they have to give her. I am sure she will love whatever the children give her simply because it comes from them.
