Planting flowers…
Posted by The Inspector on May 22nd, 2011 filed in UncategorizedMy children have true passion when it comes to gardening. This really came as a surprise to me. When we started gardening I really thought they would quickly loose interest but they haven’t. This year we decided to give them their own garden bed and let them plant whatever they want in it. Considering both children are boys I expected them to choose vegetables but they did not. Both of them selected several types of flower seeds and bulbs. My oldest son envisions using them in various floral arrangements that he will create when they bloom. They spent the afternoon working in their garden bed planting. It was really neat to see them working together and with a clear plan in mind. When everything was said and done they planted gladiolas, nasturtiums, violas, and several types of sunflowers. Our youngest son doesn’t quite understand the time frame involved between planting the flowers and being able to enjoy them. As we tucked him into bed tonight he asked if he could pick flowers in his garden in the morning. I am half tempted to buy some blooming flowers and stick them in the ground just to make him happy. Everything that we usually plant is edible which makes a flower garden a nice change of pace for all of us.
