Oddly good…

There are times when my wife tells me about things that she wants to “can” that I question why should would want to do that particular thing. For example she recently canned sausage. The resulting product was edible but not exactly tasty. I wondered why she embarked on such an experiment and she said that her goal was to make the meat immediately usable. This means that there would be no thawing or pre-planning to have a meal. My wife hates planning dinner and prefers to do things last minute when it comes to dinner. Yesterday she told me that she was going to be canning red onion marmalade. This was something I simply could not wrap my head around. Tonight she gave me a jar and instructed me to baste the hamburgers I was grilling with it. The resulting product was unbelievably good. It made me wonder why I had ever question her motive in making an onion based marmalade. I may just have to reserve all judgement in the future until I taste the finished product.
