Fair rides..

Last night we took our children to our local county fair. This is an annual event for our family. The children love to look at the animals and always look forward to this time of year. Normally we go on a night that is free and doesn’t offer rides. This year I thought I lucked out and got some free tickets for the night where the midway was available. As it turned out my youngest son wanted no part of the rides and neither did my wife. I rode a few rides with my older son but was very turned off they the long lines and rides that didn’t seem to be in good repair. As the evening wore on it became clear that coming on a night where rides were not offered had a clear benefit. There were fewer people and we really enjoyed ourselves much more. The rides not running eliminated any discussion of standing in lines and we spent more time together as a family. In the future I will remind myself to not give into the temptation of cheap tickets.
