Working together…

Last night I took my son to work on a service project along with several members of his scout troop. I was very surprised to see my son display a horrible work ethic despite my prodding and lecturing about working as a team. I left the meeting feeling very exasperated with him and wondering how we can go about changing his attitude towards work. Laziness is not a quality we want to foster in our children. Our society is filled with people who has no desire to provide for themselves and expect the rest of society to carry them along. I have set a goal to work with my son more closely to instill in him pride in his work and in having used his skills to the best of his ability. I believe he has yet to experience how good it feels to set a goal and see it through to the end. I just need to find a goal that is attainable and motivating to him.
