Slipping memories…
Posted by The Inspector on October 6th, 2011 filed in UncategorizedMy grandmother is here for a week visiting my mother. Last night they came over for a visit. It has been sad to see my grandmother slipping away before our eyes. She has absolutely no recollection of who I am nor any of her grandchildren for that matter. She does remember my mother and her other children but not many other people. I listened to her mention my grandfather while she looked down at her diamond rings and wedding band. I am not sure that she is entirely clear on where he is or what has happened to him.I wish there were something we could do to help her recall the things that are slipping from her memory but there isn’t. Time is simply taking a toll on her mind. I suppose I should count myself lucky to have had her for this long. She is 89 and in good physical condition aside from her memory. What I will have to remember is the happy times we shared in prior years and accept that she is no longer the same person and never will be.
